R-GROUPS

R-GROUPS
RELATIONSHIPS, IDEAS and SOLUTIONS
for getting to know other CEOs

Vision:  To expand the RELATIONSHIP FACTOR of CEO COUNCIL MEMBERS by increasing the frequency and depth of their interactions.  To make new solutions and ideas available by simply  extending the introductions, expanding the friendships, solidifying the business interactions, and exchanging members’ intellectual capital.

Concept:  To have members spend time together in small and interactive groups.

Parameters:  Groups should be no more than 10-15 members, in a one to two hour period, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, or after-hours fare.  For the first one hosted should follow the outline(s) set up for the groups.  Second-time hosts can branch into other topics, unusual tours and hobby interests, and less structure (and still maintain quality). Our member survey told us that 25 of 38 respondents preferred first thing AM.

Hosts’ Responsibilities:  MAKE IT FUN FOR YOUR GUESTS!
• The host shall bear the cost of the event.
• Logistics should be well-planned and include preparation of the location, adequate and affordable parking, food and drink provisions, in a cool, comfortable setting, with an acceptable level of background noise.
• The host picks the date, time, place and list of 40-60 attendees
• The host gives this information to the Executive Director, who sends the invitation by e-mail to the selected recipients. It includes a map, mapquest link and/or anything they need to know about location and parking arrangements.
• The Executive Director (or assistant) takes RSVPs and gives the host the names of the attendees, so the host can make nametags and make food and drink preparations.

Format:  After gathering together, food and drink provisions should be smoothly offered for breakfast, lunch or after-hours fare.  Initially, introductions should allow each member two to three minutes to introduce themselves and tell about their business, etc.  Hosts are asked to include a question to take them into a personal realm or a topic that will reveal something unusual about the person (like the “two-minute drill” concept used at the regular meetings).  Then a comfortable (personal or professional) topic can be discussed by the group. BUT MAKE IT FUN!!!  This is in NO WAY intended to be a Roundtable with business problem-solving, just a way to find out how other CEOs are doing things RIGHT in their lives and in their work.

Other:  The groups are not a means for the host or attendees to sell any products or services, business or non-profit or otherwise. Members are encouraged to do business with other members and/or to encourage other members to join them in support of community activities, but this should be done on an individual basis and in accordance with our non-solicitation policies.
