Defense contractor Celestar Corp. said it was awarded a $1.2 million contract with the Army National Guard for its Low Density Recruiting program. Celestar, based in Tampa, is working with Management and Training Consultants Inc., a defense consulting firm in Killeen, Texas, on this project. Created in 2004, the LDR program was created to identify and re-assign soldiers in various occupational fields, considering both the soldier’s geographical preferences and the Army’s needs. The aim is to improve personnel readiness in the ARNG.
The program’s total return of investment has been more than $83 million since inception, an estimated average monthly ROI of $2 million. Last month, Celestar was identified as one of the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Fast 50 honorees. An annual event celebrating the 50 fastest growing companies in the Bay area is scheduled for July 23. Incorporated in 2001, Celestar provides consulting services to the U.S. government and maintains a worldwide presence.
