Gov. Charlie Crist named attorney Steven Burton and surgeon Joseph Diaco to the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. Both Burton and Diaco will serve terms that began July 15 and will end July 1, 2013, a release from the governor’s office said.

 
Burton, who lives in Lutz, is an attorney with Broad and Cassel Attorneys at Law. He succeeds Stephen Mitchell. Diaco lives in Tampa and succeeds Kenneth Anthony.

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority has exclusive jurisdiction over all publicly owned airports in the county, including Tampa International Airport and three general aviation airports — Peter O. Knight Airport, Plant City Airport and Tampa Executive Airport.

There are five authority board members, including three Hillsborough County residents appointed by the governor for four-year terms. The mayor of Tampa and a member of the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners selected by the commission also serve on the authority board as ex-officio members.
