Avalon Healthcare Signs Deal with Sarasota Memorial Hospital

Avalon Healthcare Inc. signed a provider agreement with Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

The agreement was effective July 1, but was not disclosed until a release early Aug. 10.

Avalon Healthcare, a Tampa-based health insurance company that offers consumer directed health plans, is now close to completing its hospital build-out on the west coast of Florida, said Charles O’Neill , chief executive, in the release.

Sarasota Memorial is part of a nonprofit health system serving southwest Florida and providing care for more than 400,000 people annually.

Over the past two years, Avalon has signed direct hospital contracts with the BayCare Health System with nine hospitals in the Tampa Bay area, Iasis with three hospitals in the Bay area, Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Hospital, Winter Haven Hospital, University Community Health, Tampa General Hospital, All Children’s Hospital, Lake Wales Regional Hospital, Bartow Regional Hospital, and other systems and hospitals in south Florida.
